Connor Goldson has enjoyed a good season at Rangers this year, but his teammate Alfredo Morelos has undeniably been even better. In fact, you could argue that Morelos is not only the best player at Rangers, but the best player in the whole of Scotland.

Indeed, this is a sentiment that Goldson agrees with, at least judging by some recent comments that the defender has made via the Sunday Post.

As per the Sunday Post, he said: “Do I think he’s the best player in Scotland this season? Yeah, his record speaks for itself. To have scored 28 goals by the end of February is unbelievable, and there’s not many can do that.”

Goldson has offered some insight on how he’s got to that point, and it seems as though its not all just natural talent.

He said: “When I first came to the club, you could see he’d had a good summer. But, to be fair to him, he worked his socks off and got rid of a lot of weight…He’s a player that works his socks off for 90 minutes for the team. He’s done that for 41 games, which is credit to the way he has looked after himself and the player he’s made himself into.”

Some players are simply born with the talent, and Morelos, of course, has a lot of natural ability.

However, the difference between a good player and a great player is their focus on harnessing that ability, and clearly, Morelos had done a lot of that.

He works incredibly hard on the pitch, that much is clear, but judging by what Goldson has had to say, he puts in just as much effort when he’s on the training pitch.

If he’s going to continue to improve, he needs to ensure that his effort matches his quality; and it seems as though he’s going the right way about that.
