Steven Gerrard left us in no doubt as to what the number one priority was for the rest of the season, not just because he made seven changes in a side that drew 1-1 with St Johnstone in mid-week, but because he told us that the Scottish Cup remains the sole objective.

An unbeaten league campaign would be nice, however, at Rangers we are used to having big, shiny silver things being waved at us every season and there would be no better way to finish an incredible year than by lifting the famous trophy in May but, there is the small matter of a re-match with the men from Perth to contend with before we can even think about the semi-finals or final.

It will be a much changed side and the gaffer will have learned more from how the opposition played than they will have learned from us, with the following likely to be the line-up for the encounter at Ibrox:

The first choice defence plays together for the first time in a couple of months with James Tavernier coming through unscathed after his 60 minutes on Wednesday and Filip Helander will be fresh having sat the game out altogether.

The midfield and forward line that started against Celtic has served us well in the past, however, Scott Wright did his chances of being selected no harm at all although Kemar Roofe and Ianis Hagi will be disappointed with their efforts and will have to be content with a place on the bench.

I’d expect – and so will Gerrard – a greater quality and intensity from Rangers and a greater level of control in both defence and attack, the game management that has served us so well all season was lacking in mid-week and a repeat of the lapses in concentration would cost as a lot more than just a couple of points.
