This summerโ€™s transfer business was always going to be affected by a few factors; players signing extensions, qualifying for the Champions League and if any bids come in for key players.

So far itโ€™s been pretty quiet, however, there has been a lot of noise around Joe Aribo, mainly from the Premier League and it now looks as though he has at least one foot out the door of Ibrox with talkSport reporting that he has rejected the offer of a new contract and has no intentions of extending his current deal.

As talkSPORT also claim, Southampton have been mentioned recently as being one of several clubs that are interested with a fee of around the ยฃ10million mark unlikely to put them off โ€“ having had success in the Scottish market before and allowing players to go on loan in the SPFL before returning to St Maryโ€™s to make an impact, they probably look down their noses a little less than most Premier League outfits too.

Given Ross Wilsonโ€™s time on the south coast, you would like to think that negotiations will be pretty smooth and that he will want a swift resolution so that our own window can get kick-started with a decent cash injection as soon as possible, Aribo might be inconsistent, however, he is almost guaranteed to play in every game such is his importance to the team and he will need to be replaced โ€“ Alex Lowry is a talent but Iโ€™m not quite sure weโ€™re ready to rely on him to start over 50 games just yet.
