The current transfer state of play for Rangers is Antonio Colak potentially coming in over the next few days to finalise his move from PAOK Salonika and Joe Aribo attracting interest from half of the Premier League.

Southampton also emerged as potential suitors in the last 48 hours and it’s now looking more likely that not that the 25-year old will be heading south this summer, that he only has one year left on his current Rangers contract also contributing to the speculation, a goal in the Europa League final playing out of position also raising his already respectable profile – in short, now is the time to sell.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, transfer insider, Dean Jones, has revealed that former boss Steven Gerrard remains and admirer but there is a caveat to any potential business:

“I think Aribo will become an option a bit later in the window from what I’m told.

“I think he had ideas of going somewhere else that have fallen through, and now they’re going to look at further options, and I know that Villa is just one of those that need to be explored. So that might happen but further down the line.”

Aribo’s flexibility is a hugely attractive aspect of his play as is his ability to always be available, he’s only really missed any real game time at Rangers when he has his head split open against Livingston in his first season, other than that he has been a virtual ever present.

Aston Villa may be biding their time but, if they don’t move fast, they might not get the chance to sign the 20-cap Nigerian international. If there is interest, Ross Wilson won’t be wanting to wait until the closing stages to cash in with Giovanni van Bronckhorst likely to want to bring his own players in too – if you’re not first, you’re last, or something like that.
