In a signal of clever business, Rangers have confirmed certain clauses as part of the deal taking Charlie McCann to Forest Green Rovers.

The switch was finally made public earlier this afternoon with the Gloucester club very pleased to land the highly rated midfielder.

Rangers supporters will be impressed with the move to protect the club with the statement on the official website detailing the following:

In addition to the undisclosed transfer fee, (believed to be around £350,000) Rangers have retained a significant future sell-on percentage, as well as return options and matching rights on Charlie for the future.”

There should be plenty more to come from Charlie McCann who will only get better from regular first team football at a decent level. The player will have higher aspirations than League 1 but it can be a good starting point to kick on, with the stipulations in his transfer leaving the door open for a potential Ibrox return in the future.

With one out and one in so far (Cantwell) the balance of Michael Beale’s squad remains as it was. Sitting at approximately 30 players, that numbers will need to be trimmed in the near future but at present thr manager is working with a group of just around 21 including Alex Lowry, Adam Devine and Leon King.

Another one or two arrivals are anticipated this month with the midfield most needing reinforcement (Raskin) and another attacker earmarked in Morgan Whittaker but it will be interesting to see if there is any further movement, other than McCann, heading for the exit at the club.

With just a week remaining before the close of the transfer window, it seems that a busy and intriguing few days lies ahead in the build up to the Premiership fixtures at home to St Johnstone and away to Hearts.
