Rangers announced the pre-contract signing of Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara over the weekend, but he could make the switch to Glasgow before the end of the season, according to The Scottish Sun.

The Finnish international had been expected to join up with Steven Gerrard’s squad at the end of the current campaign, but the Dark Blues are ready to do a deal that would see him move during this month’s transfer window, say the paper.

What kind of fee it would take to bring him to Ibrox now remains to be seen, but given he has already agreed a contract at Rangers it would be a cut-price deal.

Signing the 23-year-old now would ensure he is not completely benched without development in the second half of the season and would, at the very least, allow him to settle into life at Rangers and adjust to the intensity required to challenge for major honours.

Gerrard has plenty of midfield options at the moment but fans would probably expect Kamara to be above the likes of Lassana Coulibaly in the pecking order considering he’s a loanee.

After signing Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis, are we set for another January boost this week?
