Late yesterday Rangers confirmed the speculation linking us with a January move for former England international striker Jermain Defoe.
The 36-year-old signed on the dotted line yesterday after an agreement was struck with the player and Bournemouth on an 18 month loan deal and quite rightly Rangers fans were delighted with the confirmation given how massive a capture it is for the club.

Not only will Defoe undoubtedly have a massive impact on the pitch under manager and former colleague Steven Gerrard, the magnitude of the deal sends a massive statement across football that we’re back and serious about the challenges ahead.
That’s without mentioning the kind of role model he can be for our younger players as well as he’s another successful and influential voice around the training ground.
Welcome to the biggest club you will ever play for ????????

Getting the deal over the line early so he can begin settling in during the winter break could also massively play in our favour here.
Sunday night was a good night for Rangers.
