With the confirmation of the arrival of Ryan Kent at Ibrox from Liverpool on a season-long loan deal on Sunday, plenty of Rangers fans are now hopeful that manager Steven Gerrard will move his attentions to the top of the pitch and make addition number eleven a goalscorer with concerns about Alfredo Morelos and his lack of consistency in front of the net.
We have of course added Sadiq Umar from Roma on a loan deal and he clearly has potential but he will take time to adjust to life in Scotland and at the club, so fans want to see Gerrard bring in a proven goalscorer who is more likely to hit the ground running from game one as we look for significant improvement this season. We obviously have other attacking threats in the squad both in terms of those with us if form can be found but the likes of Ovie Ejaria as well.
A true No 9 is gold dust in football though and a fair few seem to think that the gaffer should tap Liverpool up once more for Dominic Solanke. Others want this capture to be permanent though.
The 20-year-old has talent but he has only scored eight goals in 53 appearances, so I’m not convinced he’d be the answer and others aren’t either.
