Rangers will once again enjoy home comforts for the Scottish Cup quarter-final but with the where sorted, the when is still to be confirmed.

As well as the usual wait for the TV schedule to be made public, the situation is made a bit more complicated due to the Six Nations Rugby International series.

Scotland v Ireland is set for Sunday 12th March with a 3pm start meaning there is no chance that the Hearts v Celtic game will be played on the same day. With the inevitability that the Tynecastle encounter will be set for the Saturday, it means that it is very, very likely that once again Rangers will have a Sunday Scottish Cup tie, this time with the visit of Raith Rovers.

The Kirkcaldy side claimed the significant scalp of Motherwell in the fifth round and as one of four non-Premiership teams in the last eight, their reward is a big occasion at Ibrox.

With the draw having just been made last night, it is expected over the next couple of days that final confirmation will be given on the quarter-finals.

Whilst it is likely that Rangers will play Sunday, it is not beyond reason that Viaplay could schedule both sides of the Old Firm for a Saturday double header but it is unlikely. The Friday evening slot is ruled out as Michael Beale’s team are already on duty on Wednesday 8th March against Hibs at Easter Road.

Monday night is another possibility but at the moment it is not known if that is desired by Viaplay.

The commercial broadcaster will have its contracted first picks with the usual set-up likely. BBC Scotland as a secondary, partner broadcaster will also have the rights to the other games, as well as highlights in its overall package.
