The Rangers run in the Scottish Cup is continuing for at least one more round after the fourth round win against Motherwell at Ibrox on Saturday.

A dramatic finale to the game on saw veteran Kenny Miller to the rescue for Rangers as his late brace saw us come from behind to beat Motherwell 2-1 with Greenock Morton faced in round five.

Despite dominating for large periods of the game Rangers couldn’t find a way through with a Louis Moult header from a Chris Cadden cross having Motherwell ahead – what would have been third time lucky as the Gers had twice beaten Well this season already – and on for the fifth round late on.

However, Martyn Waghorn supplied a cross for Miller and he headed Rangers level with a little over five minutes to play with the game set to end in a draw.

Rangers were threatened again though but survived these worries and claimed the winner when Bournemouth loanee Emerson Hyndman marked his debut with an assist for Miller to show composure and seal the win in the last minute.

Speaking in his conference after the game Rangers boss Mark Warburton was quoted by the BBC as saying.

‘I’m delighted we’re through. I thought we deserved to win the game of football but you find yourself 1-0 down with 15 minutes to go so that is the harsh reality of it. The positives were we passed the ball well. But we never penetrated, we never tested their keeper and we didn’t have enough bravery in the final third. All credit to Motherwell – they were very hard working, very well organised and well marshalled. Our goals came late because that is when their players tire. Again two late goals is credit to our team, to their fitness and their desire.’

On the Miller goals he added.

‘It was two quality finishes, a great ball in from Waggy and then the composure and the poise from Kenny. The second is a great ball in from Emerson and he finishes it with aplomb so it is no coincidence. It is the way he [Miller] works on the training field, the way he eats. It is all credit to him and the senior players.’

Here’s a round up of the action from the other games played.
