Rangers are in the running to sign Patrick Thistle’s teenage prospect Aidan Fitzpatrick, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Currently the subject of a bid from English Championship club Norwich City, Rangers are also thought to be interested in player after glowing reports from the scouting team, says the report.

Sheffield Wednesday are also said to be keen on signing up the 17-year-old, who is contracted to Partick Thistle until 2021.

Fitzpatrick has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in the Scottish Championship, scoring three goals and assisting twice in 14 appearances for the Glasgow side.

With Rangers clearly putting a focus on bringing the best Scottish football has to offer into Ibrox, a move for Fitzpatrick this early would ensure we have a big say on his development and potentially get him cheaper than a few years down the line.

Competition for first-team places is fierce, but Steven Gerrard has already shown that he isn’t afraid to play young players if they are good enough, with teenager Glenn Middleton getting plenty of senior action this season.

Can we convince Fitzpatrick his future lies at Ibrox?
