Broadcasting giants ESPN have ranked Rangers as the best club in Europe in the latest installment of Shaka Hislop’s Power Rankings.

Prior to the weekend’s games, the feature on the in-form teams across the European leagues was updates and it was Steven Gerrard’s side who came out on top.

A somewhat reluctant Hislop announced the Gers in the top spot, ahead of Manchester United and Manchester City.

The former Newcastle United goalkeeper made a cursory negative remark toward the standard of Scottish football but didn’t qualify Rangers domestic superiority this season with a nod to their fine Europa League form, unbeaten against the likes of Galatasaray and Benfica in particular, home and away against the Lisbon giants in which Rangers should have gathered more than two points.

The red hot streak of 14 league wins on the spin is the reason for Rangers prominence in features like this on ESPN and the global exposure is only good for the profile of the Ibrox club.

This weekend’s draw will likely see a fall on the ‘Power Rankings’ for the Gers but that won’t last as they aim to push on in their Premiership campaign with the visit of Ross County to Ibrox, this coming Saturday.

You can view the full feature here, on the ESPN website.
