Rangers are still being linked with an interest in Huddersfield Town’s Curacao international midfielder Juninho Bacuna.

With the Championship club triggering a one-year extension on his current deal this Summer, it has been said they are wanting to cash in on the player rather than letting him leave for nothing.

Town chairman Phil Hodgkinson stated to Radio Leeds, “No football club owner wants to lose players for free that have a value.”

From the same source, YorkshireLive, Bacuna’s Rangers link going back to last season was featured, but it remains to be seen if the Ibrox club will follow up on the reported interest:

“Bacuna remains a question that Town have never quite managed to answer.”

“His versatility has not helped as it’s seen him used in (at a quick count) six different positions at various times in his Town career under different managers.”

“What is clear in flashes is the immense amount of talent he possesses – Bacuna is a player who sees things others don’t.”

Asset

“Whilst remaining a source of frustration it’s important to note he’s been a key part of Carlos Corberan’s squad this season. Only Naby Sarr and Lewis O’Brien clocked up more minutes on the pitch than Bacca, only Fraizer Campbell and Josh Koroma scored more, and only Isaac Mbenza and Harry Toffolo got more assists.”

“Whilst he has been a big part of the first eleven he is also a very saleable asset for Huddersfield Town this summer.”

“Links to Rangers last year came, went, then came back again but their position has changed after their title win.”

The 23-year old is rated at £4.5 million by Transfermarkt and as stated above, made a significant contribution to Huddersfield’s Championship campaign, where they narrowly avoided the League One trap door with a 20th place finish.

Bacuna registered 43 league appearances with five goals and four assists.

He is currently on international duty with Curacao, playing in the second round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.
