Rangers are interested in signing Fulham prospect Matt O’Riley, according to Sky Sports.

The Gers have already added English Premier League players Jermain Defoe and Steve Davis to the first-team squad this January, two players who have vast experience at the highest level.

O’Riley, in contrast, is only just beginning his career but could be the latest player from down south to make the move to Ibrox.

Sky Sports report that both Rangers and Celtic are considering bids for the youngster, with a host of Bundesliga clubs also tracking his progress after the impact of Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund.

A central midfielder, O’Riley has had just five minutes of senior action at Fulham this season and a move to the Scottish Premiership could guarantee he gets the regular first-team football he needs to develop.

His five assists and two goals in twelve Premier League 2 appearances suggest he could be something of a creative force.

The English youth international is likely firmly on the radar of Steven Gerrard after his experience as a youth coach in England, so it’ll be interesting to see how this one develops over the next few months.
