Despite baulking at the potential transfer fee, rumours of a move for Oli McBurnie refuse to go away as the Sheffield United striker looks to kick-start his career and his goal scoring record.

He has come close before but any thoughts of a potential “dream” coming true for the 24-year old had seemed dead in the water until the recent speculation, however, at £15million, it seems way out of our price range, however, speaking to Football Insider, BBC Five Live pundit, Danny Mills, believes that it is a shock transfer that could pay off:

“He’s got real pace and he’s scored goals before but it’s not really happened for him at Sheffield United.

“Maybe that’s the way that they play, the move didn’t work out. If he wants to continue to score goals, he has to move on.

“Definitely, he could thrive there in the Scottish Premiership, he could go there and score goals.”

There are strikers, off the top of my head, Ross McCormack and Jordan Rhodes for spring to mind, that scored a barrel load of goals in the Championship only to struggle when they took the step up to the Premier League, there’s no shame in this, chances are fewer for a bottom half or relegation threatened team and managers tend not to opt for free flowing football when trying purely to survive.

Who finished as Rangers top goal scorer this season?

McBurnie falls under this category, he is, despite perception, a good technical striker. His persona and languid style don’t do him any favours but there is a reason the Blades shelled out £20m for his services in the first place.

I think he could fit into our sale of play if, for example, Alfredo Morelos was to leave, however, if you half the asking price we might be in roughly the right ball park – £15m though? Not for me.
