Mo Besic will leave Everton at the end of this month when his contract expires, providing another option for Rangers to bolster the midfield.

At the start of the recent season, back in the October transfer window, speculation was rife that the experienced Bosnian international would be heading to Ibrox but nothing materialised.

As reported by the Glasgow Evening Times:

‘Rangers are monitoring Everton’s Mo Besic with a view to potentially making a late move for the midfielder, according to local reports.’

‘Steven Gerrard recently refused to be drawn on the 28-year-old but Liverpool Echo are reporting that the manager is indeed keen on the player.’

Instead, Rangers opted for the signing of Bongani Zungu but that move did not quite work out with the South African only deployed for several cameo roles late on in games throughout the season.

Besic would appear to be a better fit for the Scottish Premiership due to his combative style and track record in the Premier League as well as the Championship.

In recent seasons, he has been largely frozen out at Everton, leading to loan spells at Middlesbrough and Sheffield United.

At just 28, the Berlin-born midfielder still has plenty to give and is said to be eager for a clean break and stability at his next club.
