According to Football Insider, Aston Villa are ready to make a real attempt at trying to sign Rangers man James Tavernier and we’ll have to be ready for that.

The right-back was excellent for us this season just gone with him hitting double figures for goals and assists from his defensive role.

Of course, a lot of the goals came via penalties but, even so, he is a key part of the side – though I know he can frustrate some at times.

Would I like to see him leave, though? Definitely not. The bid from Villa would have to be huge to let him go because he does bring quality and delivery that few can really match.

Steven Gerrard surely won’t entertain the idea either, unless, again, a big bid comes in for him.

Tav is a class act and with Villa back in the Premier League, they can pay through the nose for him.

  • Tav was great for us last season. If he is going to be sold to an English club, let’s hold out for the right price. Don’t be trod on. £10 million before we even discuss it. If he was playing in England’s 2nd teir they’d be offering funny money for him. Hold out Gers.

  • Don’t want to see him leave…. Unless an offer of 15million+ was on the table.
We’ve got to stop selling our class players for peanuts ????

  • Can’t read the article due to ads popping up taking up 90 percent of the screen plus the others plastered across it.
Tavenier really has to chip in with more goals and I’m not talking about penalties. If someone else was our penalty taker how many goals would tav have 2? 3 at the most. That’s not good enough for someone who gets into the last third do often and into the penalty box, I’ve noticed not just him but many others don’t take shots on gosl, Ryan jack especially is shot shy. The amount of times they get to a shooting area and just pass it to the side or look for someone else to shot for them.
If Tavenier scores more from open play & others from outside the box we’d have far more points on the boar
