Ross Wilson has been working his magic in the transfer market and, if reports are anything to go by, he has “unearthed another gem” in the shape of Nnamdi Ofoborh.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Rangers right-back, Alan Hutton, has praised the work done by the recruitment department in identifying young talent that can be developed and sold at a profit further down the line.

“It is unbelievable when they’re coming out with these gems right, left and centre. It is very much like the Calvin Bassey one for me, they have obviously been tracking him for a while.

“I had to look him up, he obviously had a good time at Wycombe last season in their promotion campaign and just reading some things about him from past players that have played along with them, he is definitely one for the future.

“I mean he fits the mould of Rangers at the moment, they’re definitely building something and it’s not just for this season or the next, it’s for the next four, five, six which I really like.

“So he fits that mould just like a lot of other players that they are trying to bring in and he looks a good player. When you look at his clips, he is strong, he is physical, he can go past people, he’s got a good range of passing, so he takes all the boxes.

“Credit to the scouting team, they’re unearthing a lot of gems at the moment.”
It’s really encouraging to see us having a genuine transfer strategy rather than the scatter gun approach of the past that would see players who didn’t fit the profile or style of play needed to be a successful Rangers player arrive at the club, often for over inflated transfer fees.

There appears to be genuine succession planning and with Ofoborh being likened to Glen Kamara, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Finland international sold after, hopefully, a successful European Championships for his country, his departure would be a blow but one that would be softened by the arrival of a ready made replacement.
