With the deserved, comfortable victory over Hearts, Rangers recorded four goals for the first time in six games and for only the third time this season.

The late strikes from Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent put some long awaited gloss on the win which never really looked in doubt once the hosts were reduced to 10 men after Cammy Devlin’s moment of insanity.

The truth is that four is the very least Rangers deserved – think about the horrible call from the officials to rob Scott Arfield after Craig Gordon’s error. Prior to that, the former Burnley man missed from point blank range. Alfredo Morelos should have had a second goal from a similar distance and there was also the squandered attempt from Malik Tillman who appeared to make his move for the ball too soon.

Incision

In the lead up to this game, Gio van Bronckhorst stated that he was looking for his team to improve their levels, to do better collectively. This certainly happened in attack.

Antonio Colak’s purple patch continues. His deadly double in the first half displayed his fine finishing technique once again and set the tone for what would follow later in the game.

Whilst the points were never really in doubt, it was somewhat frustrating that the killer third goal did not arrive until the 76th minute mark. Plenty of possession and territory had been in Rangers favour before that, until Morelos made his mark soon after replacing the classy Croatian.

Ryan Kent was better, generally, than in previous games. He still has gears to go through but his goal will do him a world of good. It was the type of strike that he should be executing far more often. It was a fitting finale to this game in which GvB’s team showed their attacking threat and most importantly, made the goals count.
