Rangers have made a move to sign former Ibrox striker Kyle Lafferty this summer, having a £200,000 offer rejected by his current club Hearts, as reported by STV.

The outlet say that the six-figure bid falls significantly short of the Tynecastle club’s valuation of the player, meaning this story could rumble on into next week.

Lafferty returned to Scottish football last season, scoring 19 goals in all competitions for the Jam Tarts after making the switch from Norwich City.

With Rangers seeking reinforcements in attack to support the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq, Lafferty ticks plenty of boxes, especially when you consider his successful first spell at Ibrox.

The 30-year-old Northern Ireland international netted 36 goals and created 19 assists in 134 appearances for the Gers between 2008 and 2012.

He may have left the club in acrimonious circumstances, but all of that is in the past now and a return could see him return home and contribute to the Rangers cause once again.
