Ryan Kent has been a key figure in Rangers strolling to the Scottish Premiership title with the £7.5million signing from Liverpool proving to be worth every penny.

Even during lean spells his work rate, attitude and commitment is faultless, his pressing frequently leading to goals or chances being created.

It’s easy to see why Marcelo Bielsa tried to sign him for Leeds United last summer given the work ethic that he demands from his players, and Allan Hutton, speaking to Football Insider, believes that if they return with an offer closer to the forward’s reported release clause of £20m then he could be away.

“I think teams will be looking for him, I’m absolutely sure about that.

“He’s had a season where he’s done very well in spells. Obviously he’s had a little dip but that’s normal with the number of games he’s had to play.

“If somebody comes in with a £20million bid I think they’ll seriously have to think about it.

“I think that’s the level he’s at. £14million was knocked back from Leeds and they tried to come back in for him but £20million is obviously the mark that suits Rangers.

“They would obviously want as much as possible but if they’ve put that release clause in there, that’s what they value him at.

“It’s a big sum of money, especially in today’s market. Whether they would get that, I’m not sure but he’s definitely one of the top performers for Rangers.”

The £20m clause has never been confirmed by Rangers, so at the moment this figure is pure speculation, it would be a hard deal to turn down given the profit that would be made but as well as the numbers he produces – 12 goals and 13 assists – he brings so much more to the team that can’t be measured.

Scott Wright has impressed since he was signed and Jacob Murphy remains a target according to reports, good players both of them but able to replace Kent? I’m not so sure.
