Cedric Kipre to complete a Summer move from West Brom to Rangers?

It would appear to be an unlikely move, but the link has appeared with the 25-year old Ivorian being the latest name to be mentioned as a possible new addition for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

A report from The Athletic featured the former Fir Park central defender as being tracked by the recruitment staff at Ibrox:

“Kipre has been linked to Scottish Premiership side Rangers, who have kept close tabs on him since his promising spell at Motherwell.”

“Owing to his desire to play and Bruce seemingly deeming him surplus to requirements, Kipre could move on this summer.”

Stacked

As it stands, Rangers boast decent numbers in terms of central defenders.

Led by Connor Goldson, the ranks also contain Calvin Bassey, Fil Helander, John Souttar, Leon King, the returning Niko Katic, as well as James Sands and John Lundstram in reserve.

No more will surely arrive until there are any further departures in that department.

Cedric Kipre is a decent, mid-Championship level player but a move to Rangers doesn’t add up. He wouldn’t possess the quality required to be a first-pick, whilst having him as a squad option blocks the pathway for the likes of Leon King.

Added to that is the further two years on his existing contract at The Hawthorns meaning that a transfer fee would be required. All things considered, this one can surely be put down as no more than speculation and a very unlikely transfer for Rangers to pursue any time soon.
