A report in Football Insider has claimed that an agreement has been reached by Rangers for the signature of Colombian teenage sensation, Juan Diego Alegria.

Unfortunately, the deal has not yet been completed with the current Brexit negotiations claimed to be the reason for the transfer only being agreed “in principle”.

Only last week Alegria spoke about the move and how excited he was about the prospect of moving to such a big club and teaming up with compatriot Alfredo Morelos:

“Alfredo has made history not only in Scotland, but at European level too because he has been a prolific scorer in the Europa League.

“I hope I can get to Rangers to improve myself, learn from him, his teammates and the coaching staff.

“Rangers have made an approach to Honka. They are trying to finalise the transfer between the clubs.

“God willing, soon I will be a Rangers player.

“If and when I go to Scotland I know I will have to work very hard. My ambitions in football are very big. I know you have to keep working to achieve your goals.

“The whole of 2020 has been a great learning experience for me. Now we are focussed on my future.”

Succession planning has been neglected for a long time at Rangers and the pursuit of Algeria would suggest that this is a thing of the past, with Cedric Itten, Kemar Roofe and Jermain Defoe all capable of contributing to the goals for tally should Morelos leave anytime soon, the 18-year old would have plenty of time to settle in and adjust and be gradually integrated into the first-team.

Hopefully the “t’s” can be crossed and the “i’s” dotted, after all, who doesn’t love a Football Manager wonderkid signing to get excited about?
