Long-term Rangers target Josh Maja has made an almost instant impression at his new club after scoring a double against Everton at Goodison Park on his first start.

The 22-year old is on loan from Bordeaux until the end of the season after falling out of favour so a potential summer move for the striker can’t be ruled out – unless Fulham take up the £9million option to buy him – he wouldn’t come cheap but if we get a decent fee for Alfredo Morelos he would have to be near the top of the list of potential replacements.

Fulham are fighting a losing battle for survival in the Premier League so there’s a good chance he would turn them down and for all that Maja would probably prefer to stay in England’s top flight if he can get a move from the south of France, the lure of Champions League football could be enough to tempt him north of the border.

Is Maja the man?

Rated at £5.85million on transfermarkt, the former Sunderland hitman still has plenty of room for development and, as seen across the city with Odsonne Edouard – who will no doubt leave for nearly treble his original fee – sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate when it comes to the game’s most valuable commodity – goalscorers.

We can’t rest on our laurels, Ross Wilson and Steven Gerrard have built a talented and well-balanced squad, there is no point selling players for big fees only to replace them with free transfers every time, we don’t need to spend every penny to maintain the quality of the squad but with players like Maja it is more than worth taking a gamble.
