Souttar given injury return timeline after Scotland disappointment

|

Rangers fans were expecting to see Ryan Jack called up in the Scotland squad this week, his form since returning from injury has been nothing short of sensational and a key factor for our progress in the Europa League.

One other name that they would have been looking out for is John Souttar, the Ibrox bound centre-half who was recently at the centre of an injury scare when former Ger and team-mate, Andy Halliday, claimed that he had done his Achilles again, now, considering his history, that’s not what anyone wanted to hear.

Those fears were soon put to rest, however, the 25-year old has been missing for a couple of games now with Robbie Neilson explaining how much longer Souttar will be out for, as reported by Football Scotland:

“It will be another couple of weeks before they are back. We are probably targeting the Hibs games but we will wait and see.”

The Hibs game Neilson talks about is on the 9th of April so it has obviously been a decent blow that Souttar has had on his ankle to be out for the best part of six weeks, he will be frustrated at missing out on an international call up too when he had been man of the match against Denmark.

Souttar hasn’t missed many games this year but when he has it has been because of ankle rather than achilles injuries, he has had surgery there before too but you would like to think that any rd flags would have been picked up in his medical.

Hearts are pretty secure in third place and know that Rangers will be keeping an eye on how Souttar is looked after, that his last appearance in a maroon jersey could be in the Scottish Cup final against his new employers is almost inevitable.
