Zinedine Ferhat will be available for a cut price bargain fee of around €2 million, according to a mainstream French source.

The Algerian international is expected to depart Nimes Olympique following their relegation from Ligue 1 to the French second tier.

The rough translation is as follows:

This morning in @Midilibre, we learn that for Rani Assaf, Zinedine Ferhat “is not worth more than 2M € in the actual context”. Open house at Nîmes Olympique, who will benefit?

As above, the source for the above info is Montpellier based outlet, Midi Libre.

Added to Nimes obvious relegation issues, there appears to be significant financial stress on the club just now to amplify their woes.

One implication of that would be cut-price player sales, meaning that the previously £7.2 mil rated Ferhat, will actually be available for less than a third of that reported price.

Last week on VitalRangers, we brought to you the latest from The 4th Official, following the reported interest from Ibrox in the 11 cap Algerian international:

“In the last 24 hours, I tried following up on whether the Ferhat story is true or not. I tried contacting my previous sources from covering Amiens, and finally, I was able to approach a source at Nimes. The source at Nimes asked not to be identified (understandably) and confirmed that the report from Foot Mercato was legitimate. Rangers have definitely made an approach for Ferhat.

“However, the midfielder already has other teams in France interested in him, and according to him, Rangers will need to make a substantial offer to get him. The plus side for any team approaching is that the player’s contract will expire next season, and there is a chance Nimes is relegated to Ligue 2.”

It appears that there is genuine interest in this player and given the situation at Nimes, Steven Gerrard could well capitalise if the club can beat off other suitors to the signing of the 28-year old.
