A right winger, that’s almost all we need and all we want now isn’t it?

There might be the odd position that we’d like to upgrade but there is only one that is glaringly obvious and one that has been a problem since Daniel Candeias left, the Portuguese winger might not have been Brian Laudrup incarnate but he was a grafter and he never hid.

The 4th Official, who has provided exclusives when Rangers have been linked with Ligue 1 players in the past has given an exciting update on one potential addition to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad:

“It’s safe to say Rangers will sign a new winger in the next few weeks.

“Let’s now get to Angelo Fulgini. Reports from France indicate that an offer has been made for the midfielder.

“A couple of my sources confirmed that Rangers are definitely interested but the transfer fee is going to be a stumbling block. Rangers will not expect to spend too much on someone who is the final 12 months of his contract.

“Fulgini is an attacking midfielder and it seems that he is even more creative than Lawrence. Apparently, he is one of the best when it comes to take ons and that should really excite the Rangers fans.

“However, Angers will probably hold out for £6m. He almost went for double that in January, so the negotiations will be very interesting.”

Theo Bongonda is the most recently linked and for all that Fulgini can play on the right-hand side, he is more likely to be a central option.

What is interesting though is that we now have two players whose clubs are said to be looking for decent money to let them go this summer and, coincidentally, they also share a similarity in that their contracts expire next summer.

A fee in the region of £6million is a lot of money for us, historically, never mind over the last few years, however, we haven’t really spent anything yet. Rangers made a lot of money last year and have, at least, guaranteed group stage in the Europa League next season.

It was always going to be an interesting summer and we have made a couple of quality, experienced, additions already, I might yet be proven wrong but I stand by my gut feeling that Ross Wilson might just surprise more than a few people in the coming days and weeks.
