Once a Ranger always a Ranger.

We all know the saying, and for all that it might not strictly be true – think Michael O’Halloran – for those that served the club with distinction or with an appreciative level of pride, Rangers will always hold a place in the hearts.

For two English Championship players on Monday it was clear to see where their allegiances still lie, two men whose paths never crossed in their respective times at Ibrox and yet we remain at the forefront of their minds.

Wes Foderingham only left a couple of seasons ago to join Sheffield United, where he has now established himself as number one, and yet he shares a brotherhood with someone who left considerably longer ago, John Fleck.

A picture emerged on social media of the Blades pair refusing to engage in their side’s pre-match huddle, on the surface something that really doesn’t hold that much importance and most Rangers fans wouldn’t be that bothered about seeing former players take part in such a ritual, however, when they don’t it always brings a smile and a respectful nod.

Foderignham was never good enough to be our long-term number one and his departure was understandable, however, with Fleck, there will always be an element of “what might have been?”, a return to where he started out has long been speculated given his consistency in both the Premier League and Championship.

As a Scotland international and home grown player, he would also be a welcome addition to the European squad, that he still thinks about us minutes before he is due to kick-off shows that a return to where it all started might not entirely be out of the question.
