During the summer, the two positions that Rangers fans wants to see addressed were the right-hand side of the attack and a creative central midfielder, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and Malik Tillman arrived but only one of them could be qualified as being a success, so far.

One name that was linked in the latter stages of the window was Evander, Midtjylland’s mercurial playmaker who has been tearing up the Europa League and currently sits as the player with the most assists.

He might not be the “one that got away” just yet given that he is still with the Danes and that he was always likely to command a fee in the region of £6million, with a contract expiring in 2025, this isn’t going to be a bargain free transfer or loan to buy deal should we go back in for him.

Our interest was confirmed during the window, however, it is unclear as to how far we went, The 4th Official at the time said:

“I can confirm that the club are interested. To what degree the interest is, I don’t know, as I have not been able to find out the negotiation status despite trying my best. The sources who told me a week back that Rangers are in for Evander are the same ones who told me last night that the Europa League finalists are in for the player.”

It feels as if John Lundstram is trying to do everything on his own just now; break up play, start attacks, rotate possession and score goals, he drastically needs help in midfield and Evander would be the perfect option. He certainly wouldn’t be happy playing horizontal passes to full-backs for 90 minutes.

With seven goals and four assists in 17 appearances this season, Evander has outscored all our wingers combined and Tillman playing as a number eight. It’s been a long time since we invested in a quality midfielder but, if we want to compete at home and abroad, it’s time to dig deep.

Good shout and it looks like Kamara is still desperate to get away so we could generate the cash by selling him and maybe have some extra. I like Glen but he hasn`t been fit and doesn`t seem to want be here anymore so we would not lose anything by selling him now.
