Antonio Colak will be expected to hit the ground running when the competitive action starts, mainly due to the fact that we probably won’t have any other fit strikers.

The Croatian international started the two friendlies against Sunderland and Blackpool and hasn’t really had the opportunity to display what he is fully capable of in terms of finishing, one offside goal aside.

One man who knows exactly what he is capable of is Malmo boss, Jon Dahl Tomasson who has predicted big things for the 28-year old, as reported by The Glasgow Times:

“He’s an excellent player and he made it tough for Rangers last season by scoring those two goals at Ibrox.

“Colak is a great person and excellent for the dressing room as well, always giving maximum effort.

“I think he will score goals for Rangers. He is a great team player and I like team players. He has a great attitude but it all depends on the manager.

“I know Giovanni van Bronckhorst very well and he’s clever enough to make the right choices.”

Initial impressions are good in that he looks like he will be a more than capable option, not just a back-up, he also looks a lot more suited to playing in our current system, Giovanni van Bronckhorst won’t have to make any wild adaptations to fit how he plays.

Hopefully he can score an early goal to get the fans on his side because we all know what the Rangers support can be like with goal shy forwards – a certain Mr McCoist was a regular target for the boo boys – getting off the mark against Premier League outfits in the next couple of friendlies would be perfect for his confidence.
