With Brandon Barker away from Rangers and Amad Diallo only on loan for the rest of the season, we will be looking for extra reinforcements in the wide areas when the transfer window next opens.

Scott Wright has been given a few chances to prove that he is more than just a decent backup or an option off the bench, however, he has failed to produce the sort of numbers that Fashion Sakala looks like he is capable of, even as a sub.

If Ross Wilson wants more depth in wide areas, he could do a lot worse than keeping an eye on teh scoring charts in the Premiershpi with Ross County’s Regan Charles-Cook looking like a more accomplished player as the season goes on.

With 10 goals in 24 appearances the Grenada international is starting to add the end product to the work rate and performances that he has been displaying since signing from Gillingham on a free transfer in the summer of 2020.

We’ve seen at first hand how many problems he can cause and our full-backs always know they have been in a game after facing the 24-year old.

Available on a pre-contract agreement there is a lot to like about Charles-Cook, pace, skill and an end product, exactly the type of player that is ideal to play a supporting role in domestic fixtures.

Not every transfer can be a multi-million pound signing and if we don’t have a player in the academy who fits the profile of the type that we need then we have to be smart, keeping the wage bill down is a balancing act that has to be achieved at the same time as maintaining the quality of the squad – the Ross County winger would help us do both.
