“It’s not the first time” – You’re right Tom Boyd, the SFA needs to act on mad conspiracy theories

For a club that wanted VAR for so long, they haven’t half done a lot of moaning since its implementation.

The latest “controversial decision” to go against Celtic saw a clearly offside Liel Abada make an attempt to impact the last defender, who subsequently made a mess of a header, had the winger stood still or walked away before running in on goal he would have been clear to score. As it is, his goal was ruled, correctly, offside.

Unfortunately, Tom Boyd – and not the first time this season – is not the sort of man to let the laws of the game get in the way of a good conspiracy and set about looking for any reason to ramp up the pressure ahead of the New Year derby, as reported by Football Scotland.

“It’s not the first time referees and VAR don’t look favourably on Celtic when trying to get the right decision. They are trying to make the decision if that boy has deliberately headed that ball back, and it’s the rule that he has played him on. He has tried to header that one.”

So, we have Boyd, an employee of Celtic implying that VAR and the SFA are cheating. An individual who has been under investigation before for comments made about referees, and yet, nothing ever seems to get done about it. Imagine if Kevin Thomson, Neil McCann or Alan Hutton made such remarks working for Rangers TV – we all know what sort of fall out there would be.

It’s one thing complaining about poor decisions, but trying to influence officials by criticising them when they get them right purely because they have gone against you is pathetic, but should we expect anything less?

  • William Laing says:

He doesn`t even know the rules , Abada was offside when the ball was played forward by his teammate , the fact that the Livvy player headed it is irrelevant.
Also , why did the VAR send the ref to the screen , offside is a factual decision and he should have just been told , its offside , not go and have a look.
Some people are stirring up controversy where there is none .

  • Bill McIntosh says:

Tom Boyd in 85th min of Celtic v Livi, said after the ref awarded a free kick to Livi for a foul on Jason Holt said, “‘We all know, from his time at Hearts, Jason Holt’s a cheat” The term, Beyond the Pale, is inadequate.
