Old Firm PR stunt makes Gers look pathetic

If Celtic’s insistence on calling our rivalry “the Glasgow Derby” is embarrassing, our child-like overuse of “Old Firm” around Ibrox at the weekend is a damning indictment of the current failings behind the scenes at the club.

I mean, who signed off on that?

If the Sydney Cup fiasco wasn’t enough to prove that the board is out of touch with the fan base then their feeble attempts at getting us back on side just proves one thing, we shouldn’t let the work experience kid put their ideas into practice.

We know it’s the Old Firm, as do all the broadcasters and governing bodies, it’s literally just Celtic that doesn’t refer to the rivalry as that, so why the over the top display, what were they hoping to achieve?

It’s just the latest in a long line of pathetic PR or communication stunts that have backfired and it did nothing other than make us look like a bunch of petulant amateurs.

We’ve come a long way since 2015 but this is another example of how far we still have to go and that one or two individuals still have too much say in what is and what isn’t deemed acceptable, that we are aiming for acceptable rather than professional or standard bearing says it all really.

An improved ticketing system/office would top most fans lists of what needs immediate improvement behind the scenes but the PR and comms department isn’t far behind, it would be nice if we could go even a week without something that makes us look stupid.
