What ever happened to “No-one likes us, we don’t care”, the famous line given by Graeme Souness in his time as manager of the club?

For a support that prides itself on not caring, there has been an awful lot of noise about getting into bed with a club that refuses to use the term “Old Firm” and that they are “not half of anything“.

Celtic’s public use of “Glasgow Derby” reflects on them and them only, on the BBC, Sky Sports, BT Sport and anywhere else, apart from your usual Sevcopathic bloggers, you will see “Old Firm” getting used to describe the historic rivalry between Rangers and Celtic – speak to any football fan in England and they think it’s pathetic.

Every observer outside of Glasgow calls us the Old Firm, or the “ugly sisters”, depending on where you look, and I for one will not lose sleep about how or what they refer to us as, after all, since when did a lion concern itself with the opinion of sheep? As a wise man once said.

I can understand not wanting to voluntarily involve our club with Celtic because of the recent news from the courts and the way that they controlled the PR narrative of the Sydney Super Cup to bury the negative press, or because of the way they manipulated clubs in 2020 to get awarded a league title with 20% of the games still to be played, or a Scottish Cup finished almost 18-months after it started and there are many more, but, turning down several million pounds because they don’t call the derby the Old Firm – really?
