When Rangers announced a multi-year, multi-million pound deal with relatively unknown sportswear brand Castore in spring 2020, more than a few eyebrows were raised.

The Liverpool-based company has not had it’s troubles to seek since engaging in one of the biggest partnerships in British sport, a struggle to keep up with demand whilst maintaining quality proving to be difficult – a global pandemic and the short turnaround time they had not exactly helping matters either in fairness to them, not that they were given any sympathy.

Initial teething problems appear to have been ironed out and a shortage of choice has never been an issue, their success with Rangers allowing them to get their foot in the door in the Premier League and with other sports, a factor that football finance expert, Kieran Maguire, believes can only be a good thing, as told to Football Insider:

“Something similar is happening at Newcastle.

“Castore must be delighted with the relationship in both cases. They have got a few high-profile deals crossing the line.

“It will be interesting to see how much progress they do make. The big boys tend to squash newcomers in the market.

“But as for the Rangers-Castore relationship, it is working well for both sides. That’s why they have gone to cement it a bit further with this.“

With over 250,000 kits sold, Rangers are in line to make a substantial boost to their revenue, an asset that hasn’t been available to the club whilst Mike Ashley had anything to do with it.

Rangers went toe-to-toe with Inter Milan to sign Ronaldo when he left Barcelona.

The initial scepticism with Castore has settled down, however, there are still question marks about the pricing structure of the merchandise considering there is now an easy comparison with Wolves and Newcastle down south.

Fans can at least be assured that the money they are spending in the stores and online is going to the club, at a time when it is needed most, Rangers fans are digging deep, very deep into their pockets.
