Some people love a moan, especially football fans and those that follow Rangers are amongst the best in the business.

One regular source of complaint over the last couple of years has been Castore, the company tasked with providing all our merchandise after we took a mutual gamble on each other – the Liverpool based clothing company choosing us to make their first venture into football with us as we finally removed the Sport Direct and Mike Ashley shackles.

To say it hasn’t always been plain sailing is something of an understatement though, they had just a couple of months to create and manufacture strips for the 2020/21 season which in itself would have been hard enough given that the normal turnaround time is 18-months and the unprecedented demand, only for a global pandemic to further affect their supply chain and affect stock levels, release dates and everything in between – what could go wrong, did go wrong.

There has been issues with quality, much of it due to outsourcing production but recent issues have been with design and – one thing I can’t get on board with criticising – an almost weekly addition to the range, personally, the bigger the range, the more likely there is to be something for everyone – you don’t have to buy it, if you don’t like it.

The latest faux pas is a new one for them however, as it appears as though next season’s home top has just made it’s first appearance after one fan received what looks like an authentic 2022/23 home shirt instead of what they actually ordered. How this happened is anyone’s guess, if the shirt is genuine that is.

Castore have got a lot of things right recently and seemed to be turning the corner in terms of getting a handle on what Rangers fans want but you get a feeling that someone, somewhere, won’t be very popular after this latest gaffe.

As an aside though, I think the top is decent…
