Steven Gerrard has come a long way since he first took the reins at Ibrox, building himself as a reputation as a manager capable of taking a good player and turning them into a great one.

One such example is Borna Barisic who had looked to be out the door at one stage before – after a consistent run of games – showing what he is truly capable of, a goal or assist better than one every three games isn’t a bad record for a left-back.

The gaffer’s handling of the Croatian international has been praised by his former England team-mate, Paul Robinson, after Barisic revealed that he has no intentions of leaving Ibrox anytime soon, as told to Football Insider:

“It is great news to hear Barisic say that because he’s been a key player for them over the past couple of years.

“There doesn’t sound like there is any players who don’t want to be there. Steven Gerrard has got a very happy dressing room.

“He has created a winning team and within that there is a lot of squad harmony. Next season there is an opportunity to be part of something special again.

“It is a great draw for players and that is the biggest compliment you can give Steven Gerrard. There is no bad noises coming out of Rangers at the moment, only positive.”

We have to be realistic and accept that players will inevitably be sold every summer, even if we make the Champions League, it’s just the way that our transfer model will work, however, to hear that none of them are pushing for the exit says it all about the current harmony in the squad and is a testament to Gerrard’s man-management.
