Borna Barisic has expressed the depth of his his emotion and feeling for Rangers, whilst also sending a message to the club’s detractors.

After the Trophy Day celebrations, it was claimed that there was a conspiracy within the Rangers team – that the players were indulging in anti-Catholic chants during a Sweet Caroline singalong – what absolute nonsense.

In the case of Borna Barisic, we have a proud Croat – a nation that is resolutely Catholic, even on a cultural basis if not one of individual faith.

Exposing the liars and charlatans within certain sections of the media and in government is exactly what Barisic’s remarks have done.

As reported by Glasgow Live, the popular full-back who will play at EURO2020 with his nation, stated the following:

“That club is unique. When it creeps into your heart it stays there forever. I can just say I love Rangers. Honestly.”

“Offers are normal in football but when I talk about the club and the fans, it is a big wonderful family – they totally won me over.”

“I had bad times too, we didn’t win the league for the first two seasons. But now that I see how full their hearts are, that sincere joy and love for the club, it’s fantastic.”

The set-pieced specialist was posed a question on his future and a possible switch to one of the top leagues in Europe, to which he replied:

“Of course, far be it for me to say no” (if he would consider it).

“But I can’t comment on anything, I have a contract for another two-and-a-half years, we will see what the future will bring.”

Another player, another story, more proof of the bond between club, fans and in this case, Borna Barisic.

It’s just a pity that some very close to home choose not to listen.
