Rangers “keeping tabs” in potential surprise move

Rangers fans should be looking forward to the January transfer window, last year saw the excitement of Aaron Ramsey and Amad Diallo arriving with us sitting at the top of the table, however, we all know how that turned out.

This year. A new manager would be the primary objective for most despite obvious flaws in our squad.

One area where we would appear to be relatively strong is at left-back. Borna Barisic has, arguably, been our best player outside of Antonio Colak and Ridvan Yilmaz, prior to his untimely injury, was looking like a very decent bit of business.

This hasn’t stopped Football Insider from linking us with another left-sided player who, predominantly, plays most of his football at left-back:

“Rangers are keeping tabs on Huddersfield Town defender Ben Jackson following his first-team emergence, sources have told Football Insider.

“The left-sided star, 21, has established himself in the senior team under new manager Mark Fotheringham, starting seven of Huddersfield’s last nine Championship games.

“Rangers are among a number of clubs making regular checks on Jackson’s progress ahead of the January window.”

The squad needs a lot of work but it certainly doesn’t need it at left-back. Even if we were desperate and had the bodies available, Ben Davies could fill in there too before we even think about going to the academy.

Jackson still has around 18-months left on his contract too so, given the inflated prices of Championship players, there is no way that we’d be able to pick him up cheaply.

We might be keeping an eye on him, however, I suggest that we’ll be doing little else.
