One position that Rangers fans probably wouldn’t expect us to be looking at in January is left-back, unless, there is something that we don’t know about.

Ridvan Yilmaz looks like an exciting prospect and we need to see him starting more often after the break when he returns to fitness with Borna Barisic offering a consistent alternative option.

Recent reports suggest though that Ross Wilson is keeping an eye on Huddersfield Town’s Ben Jackson and, as claimed by Football Insider, a fee has already been set:

“Huddersfield Town have slapped a £1.5million asking price on Rangers target Ben Jackson ahead of January.

“The left-sided star, 21, is on the radar of the Glasgow giants as we first revealed last week Huddersfield do not want to lose Jackson as they fight to secure their Championship status in the second half of the season.

“Rangers are among a number of clubs closely monitoring Jackson’s progress going into the winter window.

“They are looking for a potential replacement for Borna Barisic amid doubts over his Ibrox future.”

Barisic is still under contract until 2024 so we would have to be considering offers for the Croatian International if we are already considering replacements.

Personally, I just can’t see us looking to spend this sort of money in a position where we are well catered for, especially when we are so short in other areas and have multiple ares where players have contract that are set to expire in the summer.

If you think fans are frustrated just now, imagine if the first signing of the January window is a left-back…
