Rangers announced earlier tonight that as far as they were concerned it was business as usual, as they weren’t entertaining two bids from Championship side Nottingham Forest earlier in the week for Lee Wallace.

The Scotland international has been the subject of much transfer speculation recently, and Nottingham Forest and West Ham were named as clubs with an interest.

Forest did somewhat put their money where their speculation was, but neither offer from them was deemed worthy of further thought by Chief Executive Graham Wallace who promptly rejecting both offers.

With manager Ally McCoist keen to keep the 26 year old anyway, Forest not physically reaching our valuation of him really left the club with no decision to make.

Speaking to the Official Site McCoist explained.

‘It isn’t rocket science. Lee is a fantastic player, an international player and he’s obviously pledged his future to the club. He’s firmly a fans’ favourite and he has, without doubt, been one of our key players in the last couple of years. That would tell you we’re very keen to keep players of his calibre.’

The transfer deadline has now passed for January, and I’m not aware at this moment in time that Forest or any other club, have come in and bettered the offers that were declined.

Should that remain the case, then despite our financial concerns at the club again, it’s a good message from McCoist and Wallace that the team itself will not suffer as we bid to get ourselves on a much sounder financial footing as we continue to progress towards returning to the top flight of football.
