Steven Gerrard would have sighed a sigh of relief when Alfredo Morelos wasn’t called up to the Colombian national team for this round of international fixtures, we saw at first hand during the Champions League qualifiers against Malmo just how important he is to our cause.

His absence for the first-leg due to having to quarantine on his return from Colombia played a huge factor in us kicking off the second leg with a deficit to make up, his lack of fitness and match sharpness, far from ideal when he was tasked with leading the line.

The Gers gaffer will be sweating though after a report emerged that El Bufalo could yet be called up which could lead to him having to repeat a 10-day quarantine on his return and potentially miss three fixtures in the process, however, there has been a precedent set by the Scottish Government already that Stewart Robertson should be preparing as an argument should the worst come to the worst.

Rangers went toe-to-toe with Inter Milan to sign Ronaldo when he left Barcelona.

Cast your minds back to when Rangers plays Lyon at Ibrox and they were expected to be without four of their key players, all of whom had returned from red list countries just a matter of days before they were due to fly to Glasgow.

They shouldn’t have been allowed to play due to Scotland’s travel and quarantine restrictions but thanks to the SNP administration, they were given special dispensation – it’s just a shame that Morelos and Fashion Sakala weren’t afforded the same luxury just a few weeks earlier.

They’ve moved the goal posts once, there is no reason why they shouldn’t do it again, if, Morelos answers his country’s call.
