Rangers aim to sign attacker rated at more than £500,000 in January

|

Rangers are interested in signing Charlton Athletic striker Karlan Ahearne-Grant on a pre-contract this January, according to The Scottish Sun.

The paper say that the Gers see the 21-year-old as a long-term replacement for Colombian forward Alfredo Morelos, who will likely move on from the club over the next few transfer windows.

His contract expires this summer meaning he could arrive for a budget price, although Charlton have already rejected a bid of £500,000 for him during this transfer window, according to the report.

The former English youth international is having a good season in League One, scoring 13 league goals in 26 appearances as they bid to gain promotion to the English Championship.

That form comes off the back of a successful loan spell at Crawley Town in the second half of last season, where he scored 9 goals in 15 appearances.

With Morelos’ long-term future at the club uncertain and Jermain Defoe having clauses in his loan contract that could see him move back to Bournemouth this summer, it’s prudent of the club to be exploring other striking options.

The recruitment team clearly see something in the youngster.
