Rangers take on Aberdeen at Ibrox today with only one objective – win.

Not only is it imperative to stay in the title race but, if Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants to keep his job beyond the World Cup then anything less could see it being untenable.

Unfortunately, injuries don’t really allow for much rotation and Glen Kamara only just returning to fitness might mean that this game has come to early, however, there should be one or two changes in attack given that Jim Goodwin’s side aren’t quite on the same level as Napoli.

Kemar Roofe might have been line for his first start of the season, however, he is once again ruled out through injury. If he wasn’t such a good player on good wages, I suspect this campaign might have been his last for the club, given how rarely he is available.

As it is, this is who I think Gio will go with to get us back on track after last week’s disappointing draw with Livingston:

Aberdeen are a handy outfit from set-pieces so, having the extra height that James Sands and Malik Tillman bring to the midfield could be useful, we will also need to win the physical battle before we can think about getting the ball down and playing and this is our most aggressive midfield.

Antonio Colak should be fresh after only coming off the bench in mid-week and Fashion Sakala impressed too when he came on. At the moment, if someone plays well on the right-hand side, they should keep the jersey seeing as there is no obvious pick.

We will never get any consistency in terms of performance if we are constantly making too many changes, the pressure is on first and foremost to get a result but putting on a good show is the least they could do after some of the recent displays.
