Michael Beale has made it clear that he wants players in during this transfer window that will improve his team, not backups or loan signings, but players who can genuinely contribute over the next few seasons.

So far, Nicolas Raskin, Todd Cantwell and Morgan Whittaker seem the most likely to sign with a move for Everton’s Tom Davies being ruled out by the Rangers boss, however, he has been adamant since the window opened that he would like to see a few new faces of real quality.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, transfer journalist Dean Jones has backed Ibrox to be a destination that targets would want to head to and that Beale could get his wish in terms of numbers through the door:

“What Rangers can offer is a huge platform on which they can thrive. So, this is a club that will be very appealing to a lot of players, they will sign one or two in the next month, realistically.

“Three would be the dream, probably, but we’re not sure they’re going to get to that point. So, I think there’s a lot of sense to pursue players like Cantwell or Davies.”

I agree with Beale in that I think the quality is already there but, as things stand, having injuries to Ridvan Yilmaz, Filip Helander, Ianis Hagi, Tom Lawrence, Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak is obviously going to weaken the squad, they are either full internationals or proven key players so, adding a few players of a similar level will give us the depth that we need until the summer when another refresh will be required.

We’re past the halfway mark of the transfer window and we would all have liked to see a couple of arrivals by now, let’s hope that signings are like London buses and they arrive one after the other.
