Rangers transfer window has finally burst into life with Todd Cantwell’s move from Norwich City only a matter of time, bids in for Morgan Whittaker and news that Nicolas Raskin is also, potentially, on his way.

The Raskin story re-emerged yesterday via a Belgian journalist and this has been further strengthened by The 4th Official  who has claimed that Rangers are looking to bring the Under-21 international in as soon as possible, via their Patreon site:

“Rangers are serious about getting Nicolas Raskin at the club in the next few days.

“This is according to several sources I spoke with including one at Rangers and one Belgian source (the same one who was our source during the breakdown of what was happening in the Belgian league during COVID lockdowns when titles and relegations were being decided despite the season not being completed).

“Rangers have been in talks with the player for some time now. The expectation is that the player wants to come to Rangers.

“Rangers wants a 4 and a half years contract.

“Negotiations are also ongoing with Standard Liege for a few days now.”

Raskin, if we can get Cantwell and Whittaker in too, is the icing on the cake, however, he is also the position that we need someone in the most. A player capable of adding an improved element of control to the midfield and a natural number six rather than a square peg in a round hole.

Getting good players in on cut-price deals is the sort of recruitment that we should be looking to do and if Raskin does follow Catnwell, Ross Wilson, for once, should be lauded for his work. A frustrating window is fast turning into one that could set us up for the next few years.
