Rangers midfielder Gavin Rae who has been out injured for 19 months will be making a return to first team training soon and will hope to be fighting for a first team place by the end of the year.

Gavin Rae has had nothing but bad luck since joining Rangers in January 2004. He made his debut against Celtic in the new year Old Firm derby and by April he was starting to establish himself but damaged ligaments in his knee in a game against Dundee Utd and was sidelined for 6 months.

Just when he looked like making a recovery he picked up an injury in the other knee and was out for another 12 months.

Now finally he is fighting back to fitness and hoping to rejoin training with the first team at Murray Park in the next few days.

It is great news for Rangers fans in a torrid season and even better news for Rae who will be desperate to get his place back for Rangers AND Scotland as soon as possible.
