It’s being reported that former Goldman Sachs trader Kieran Prior wants to become the biggest single shareholder in Rangers.

Sky Sports carry quotes from the 34 year old who says he wants to purchase up to 1.4% in the club now, and then maybe build that to 5-10% in the coming months.

‘My motivation is simple. I want to see a club with a great heritage and one I’ve supported from a distance since I was a child grow as an institution. There is nothing venemous or tactical in my approach. Judge me on my actions, not perceptions.’

Prior confirms that the move is him alone, he’s not fronting a group or a consortium, this is something he wants to do as an individual and that he has no links or associations with anybody currently at the club, although he has previously met Malcolm Murray in the past and they are on friendly terms but that was in relation to asset management business.

Update – Prior has indeed confirmed he has purchased a 1.2% stake in the club and stated his would like to land a role as a non executive member of the board – but that would be for them to decide.

He also hasn’t been slow in looking at the figures and suggesting a restructuring given his interviews with the Daily Record.
