Rangers have announced that Stevie Smith will rejoin the club subject to registration.

The 27 year old has been a free agent since leaving Portland Timbers in the MLS and has been training with us for a while, with Ally McCoist previously commenting that he was hopeful a deal could be done.

He will officially become a Rangers player on September 1 and will pen a two year deal.

In his first spell at the club he made 64 starts for us after progressing through the youth ranks.

With fitness issues previously being worry, he did tell the Official Site after completing the formalities.

‘My fitness is always going to hang over me and it’s the first question I’ve been asked at every club since I left here. It’s something I’ve learnt to live with and I know it’s something people will keep asking about. But I’m comfortable with it, I’m fit and healthy and even though I can’t play straight away, I’m going to be able to get a good pre season. When the time comes I’m going to be ready to play.’
