Rangers take on Maribor in Slovenia tonight in a Europa League play-off hoping to make amends for their early exit from the Champions League at the hands of Malmo.

Rangers cannot afford an other embarrassment and although the money on offer in this tournament is not as much as the Champions League it is still important to qualify and hopefully get a good run in the competition.

Rangers faced Maribor in a Champions League qualifier about ten years ago during the Dick Advocaat era and disposed of them no problems, but must take nothing for granted this time around as that was a long time ago and I’m sure they will be no mugs.

Like Rangers, Maribor are also their countries Champions and have dropped out of this year’s Champions League.
